How can you get your desired personalization to us? Very simple: through your trusted specialist dealer. Place your order right there in person – specifying which product, what name and your desired inscription – your dealer will directly forward your wishes to us. Please allow at least three weeks for the personal handcrafting of your one-of-a-kind piece plus the transit time between our workshop in Grünhainichen and our local retailer. This ensures enough time so that your personal gift will become a genuine showpiece of timeless beauty and distinctive value – a gift that truly keeps on giving through the years.

Whatever you do, do not try to repair any damage yourself. Every visible and non-professional repair reduces the value of the item. A range of options are available to you.

You can drop off the damaged item that needs repair during our regular opening hours at the Wendt & Kühn World of Figures in Seiffen or at the shop in the historic half-timbered house in Grünhainichen. You can also post items to Wendt & Kühn KG, Abteilung Reparaturservice, Chemnitzer Straße 40, 09579 Grünhainichen, Germany. You can also telephone and speak to one of our members of staff on: 0049 37294 86 151, -158 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Once we have received the figurine, we will provide you with a quotation. When you have accepted this, we will start on the professional repair of your much-loved piece. After approximately 8 months, the figurine will be restored to its original splendor.

Another good place to go of course is your Wendt & Kühn specialist retailer. They are familiar with the collection and can give advice. They are also in regular contact with our workshops in Grünhainichen. If you go down this route, the retailer will take care of everything and you will pay the shop direct.

We strongly advise against attempting to repair any damage yourself. Because each visible and non-professional repair will only reduce the value of your figurine.

For this reason, the only replacement parts we sell are those that can be inserted into a figurine without glue or any other production step – for instance, Blossom Kinder flowers or the clef for our Musikus angel.

Your Wendt & Kühn specialist retailer or the salespeople at our own stores will be happy to check whether a replacement is available for the damaged part of your figurine.

Due to their nature and painting, Wendt & Kühn’s wooden figurines are particularly sensitive to environmental influences. Rain, fog, ice and snow, for example, are particularly damaging to the quality of our items. The same holds true for retail environments which exceed 60% relative humidity. Damage may then not often be immediately visible but only become noticeable after time. The wood can dry out again and the paints chip or blister.

Proper placement and storage at home is another factor influencing how many years these miniature works of art will bring you joy. Dry, room temperature locations away from direct sunlight are ideal. We developed the “Slumber Vault” especially for our Angel Musicians – well-protected in individual compartments lined with velour, they rest safely and peacefully for all the grand performances awaiting them in the future.

On June 15 and 16, 2024, take a tour of the workshops to find out how the world-famous eleven dot angels and cheerful Blossom children are created by hand in the manufactory. Other highlights such as the show days café, hands-on activities and creative offers will make your visit to the manufactory an unforgettable experience.

We only use genuine Swiss mechanisms in our high-quality music boxes. Their manufacture has a tradition of quality going back centuries. The sound is produced by thin metal pins being gently nudged over raised knobs on a revolving cylinder. The vibration caused by this movement results in the unique and slightly metallic yet delightful sound.

Grete Wendt graduated from the prestigious Royal Saxon Academy of Applied Art in Dresden. She not only learned the art of elaborate design there but also developed a particular feel for the spirit of the age. Unlike many traditional works of art made from wood in the Erzgebirge region, her creations are neither clunky nor stiff, nor are they excessively ornate. The 1920s, when she created the majority of her most famous works, were characterized by the need for unassuming, almost functional designs, an approach that the Bauhaus tradition for one brought to perfection. These simple design guidelines also formed the basis for Grete Wendt’s designs and infused her creations with an air of timeless beauty to the present day.

The green of the wings is arguably our best kept secret! There’s no point in searching for official RAL color numbers here. Experienced painters are responsible for mixing and matching all our colors – guided by tradition, experience and a keen sense of visual judgment.

There are more than 80 different Angel Musicians ready to enthrall with the delightful strains of their various instruments. The collection also includes more than 65 other angels with their unmistakable green wings, some blithely skiing through winter landscapes, some even riding atop storks. Each year, yet another Angel Musician eagerly joins our Grand Orchestra.

It depends – the number will vary depending on how closely the figurines are grouped together or whether there's also an organ or Madonna atop the mountain. However, the following information should give you a general idea:

• small 3-tiered Angel Mountain: 12-15 musicians
• large 3-tiered Angel Mountain: 20-25 musicians
• 4-tiered Angel Mountain without candle holders: 30-35 musicians
• 5-tiered Angel Mountain without candle holders: 50-55 musicians

In order to mount music works on an organ’s base plate, the rear panel would have to be removed. Since the rear section of an organ without music works is permanently glued in place and can therefore not be removed, as opposed to organs which do contain music works, it is not possible to retrofit a music box with music works at any later point in time.
